About

I am Alyse Graham, and my career has carried me through the worlds of law, education, and parenting.  In education, I’ve been a K–12 teacher and Teach for America Corps member, a consultant to organizations such as Amplify, Planet Word, and KID Museum, and a board and advisory committee member at schools across the public, charter, and independent sectors.  I’m also a certified parent coach, supporting others in our collective goal to raise healthy, thriving young people.

My most important role, however, has been raising my own three children—now young adults navigating college and the wider world.  Nurturing them through their developing needs, drives, and aspirations has shaped our joint journeys in what I think of as the art of becoming.

And it has deepened my belief in the core truths of human development: that people, especially young ones, flourish when their path begins from a place of strengths and possibility, where it is filled with opportunities to develop competency, purpose, and potential – and where, above all, relationship is king

This conviction (and lots of helpful reading) led me to create Eight Great Years.  It is one answer to the worrying news about teen mental health and some of the under-reported forces that have caused it.  It is, above all, a reimagining of high school and college as formative and transformative—not packaged and panicked—so that students can discover supported, authentic paths of exploration, achievement, and joy, on their way to their fullest potential.

I hope you’ll join me.

Together, we can make high school and college truly Eight Great Years.
